Manyula flashes in close with the speed of the Quick Attack. The Mime Jr. attempts to Copycat the move, but is too weak. Your weavile strikes the Mime Jr. with a solid Faint Attack, KOing it instantly.
Lvl up for Manyula!
will you continue toward the spires?

You continue on towards the strange looking spires of rock, and the trail begins to wind up a cliff face. it seems as though these spires are the tops of small mountains than have been eroded over time...
As you turn a corner, you see a strange looking rock in the middle of the path. It is a lvl 10 Nosepass.

(I feel like writing in 3rd person right now..)
Yoshi looked at the massive rock pokemon and instinctively reached for Piplup. He released it and out came the small. blue, penguin pokemon. It look at it's master
"Piplup use Bubblebeam" Yoshi replied to the Pplups stare.

Piplup releases a blast of thick moist bubbles toward the Nosepass, which instinctively uses Harden. the bubbles are super effective, but the hit only does moderate damage due to the Harden.
Nosepass: 29/40, +1 DEF Piplup: 36/36

The Nosepass begins to charge forward, gathering speed for a Tackle. Piplup fires the Bubblebeam, but the Nosepass takes the damage, and plows through to land a solid hit on Piplup.
Nosepass: 18/40, +1 DEF Piplup: 30/36

The Nosepass, not being the most agile of creatures tries to turn around after it's rush. Piplup is faster, and hops up onto it's head.
The penguin pokemon fired the Bubblebeam into the Nosepass's face, which promptly faints.
Lvl up for Piplup!

you keep walking for a while without incident. Eventually, you come to the base of one of the stone spires.
There appears to be no way to advance, no way up or down. It seems that you made this trek for nothing, and you will have to look elsewhere for the prof. ...
Just as you are turning to leave, you spot something lying discarded by the side of the path. Could be an item, but further investigation reveals it to be part of a notebook or journal. it is the back half of the Professor's journal, and it looks like some large bird pokemon has used parts of it for nesting material.
There seems to be a large amount of writing that can still be read. do you want to investigate further?

You open up the battered pages, and the journal opens to a page with a sketch of a Ninjask husk. The text reads:
"I have discovered an large host of Nincada in the valley below, or I should say 'below the valley'. There is an intricate network of natural tunnels formed by water erosion and the root systems of old trees, which possibly grew here in pre-sandstorm days.
Most researchers disregard the Nincada and their evolved forms, the Ninjask, as boring in terms of evolutionary research, but little work has been done to investigate their rare but highly facinating and mysterious Ghost form, the Shedinja. What causes this drastic shift in type? why do 'souls' choose to inhabit the dead husks of the Nincada? I plan to find out.
I searched long and hard throughout the valley, but could find no way into the tunnels other than small openings from which I observed the swarms of bug pokemon. I finally found a cave system that runs from the mountains into the valley floor, which opens near several large rock spire-
the page is ripped, and chunks of the journal are missing from here on. some text remains, but nothing that makes any sense.
Do you want to look for the opening to the cave system?

(of course you can)
Manyula appears in a flash of red energy as she is released from her pokeball. the two of you search for a while, but finally your Weavile locates a crack down on the side of the spire. it appears to go further inside.
the floor of the cave is sloped, and small rocks and gravel litter the floor. up ahead, there is a pit that decends into the depths of the spire, it's rough sides look like they could be climbed. off to the other side, there is a smaller opening, possibly a tunnel that leads lower.
which will you take?
