The Desert Land Elite Four is made up of a quartet of intensely-skilled trainers gathered from around the world. Through their years of battle experience they have honed their skill, truly deserving of the term "elite". All four trainers must be defeated, in order, before earning the right to throw down with the Champion. No health or status regeneration will be granted during this challenge, it is up to the trainer to stock up enough supplies as necessary. That said, the linup of the Elite Four is as thus:
Elite Four Member Bruce
Bruce is a trainer who was born, literally, into the fires of combat. His father is an award-winning judo and open-hand combat master, his mother a former triathlete who shifted her focus after meeting Bruce's father and eventually mastering several martial arts. From these intense foundations in an isolated area of Cianwood Island, far from the beachside port, the young Bruce's childhood was dominated by his dedication to the martial arts, both that instilled by his parents and by his own rigorous desire to succeed. He and Chuck, who is known as Cianwood City's current gym leader, both trained under Bruce's father, and Bruce served as the city's gym leader before being contacted by the Otaru Elite Four. Seeing no plateau higher than the brutal standards demanded by the newly-formed quartet of trainers, he handed the title of Cianwood Gym to his former sparring partner Chuck, who holds it to this day, and assumed his position as the first of four trainers in the gauntlet of the Otaru Elite Four.
Bruce is very dedicated in battle, respectful of challengers and their pokemon, but absolutely unyeilding in combat. He is not one to show sympathy for unprepared trainers and if one isn't properly prepared for his team's physical powerhouses, he will run holes through it. He keeps his battleground, a hard-packed clay hexagon, in great shape, always taking time to fully repair it with his own two hands after every battle. His ruthless attitude once the battle starts makes him a perfect starting opponent for challengers of the Otaru Elite.
His team consists of:

Scizor lv. 57

Elite Four Member Rose
Rose has one of the most interesting, and least undersood, stories of any Elite Four member in any region. None of the other Otaru E4 members seem to know where exactly she's from, though Rachael seems to suspect her to be from somewhere in the South Seas nation. Rose herself keeps mostly to her own devices, insisting her chambers and her battleground be fully planted and covered with living plant life. Her chambers are also kept at a constant 85 degrees, allowing the flowers and grasses that grow everywhere to flourish even in the Desert Land's extreme temperatures. Her battlefield is open to the sky, allowing the sunlight to filter through for most of the day. Rose has a few peculiar habits, including the single, live blue flower she ties into her braid each morning, which she returns to the shrub in her chambers each evening, apparently without harming the still-living bloom at all.
Many mysteries surround this elegant, beautiful young woman, but one thing that cannot be questioned is her skill in battle. Her battle style alters with each of her partners, and her instructions in battle are minimal, as if her pokemon know what they need to do without her input. Capable of wielding a number of different strategies in battle ranging from status infliction to airborne combat, Rose tests the versitility of her challengers with her diverse and effective strategies.

Elite Four Member Aiden
Aiden hails from the southern Otaru town of Lightbreak, situated on a cliffside high above a grand harbor. An avid explorer of the caverns and tunnels in the mountains surrounding his hometown, even as a child Aiden was never one to sit still for long. Excitable, intense, and enthusiastic, he is never one to turn down a new experience. Despite his relative youth he has explored many of the port cities of the world. He can be considered an adrenaline junkie, and is a fan of high-speed, high-risk activities when not training. He mastered his skill with pokemon while growing up as an apprentice in the Lightbreak Gym under Gym Leader Stu and is a local celebrity in that city.
Aiden's battlefield is a thick, clear etched-glass pane suspended by four heavy chains above a seemingly bottomless, circular pit. This pit is where most of the battling seems to take place during his fights, as the outer walls are lined with projecting blocks of varying lengths sticking out into the void. Agility, balance, and attention to detail are key in this arena, because if the field does not claim you, Aiden's powerful pokemon certainly will. Many of Aiden's pokemon are able to neutralize or even fully negate their weaknesses through type coverage, abilities, or field effects, so come prepared with multiple strategies for taking on this electrifying foe.

Elite Four Member Rachael
Rachael, of Hoenn's Mossdeep City, was born with severely impared eyesight. However, as a young child she was found to possess a keen sense of extra-sensory perception, which she used to navigate her dark world. By the age of 10 she had regained her sight, but she also maintained her abilities, eventually acquiring a slight sense of telepathy. After regaining her sight she lost a considerable amout of her extrasensory abilities, but discovered a way to track their flow around her; the pale ribbon that wraps around and hangs from her right arm is made of a rare, near-supernatural material that reacts to unseen energies as a normal scarf would to a blowing breeze. Because of her sensitivity to telepathic and spiritual energies, she can commune with dark and psychic pokemon as easily as to a human with her own voice, understanding the battle from her Pokemon's perspective.
Rachael's area is a traditional rectangular battlefield of pressed earth, though the area bordering the field is dotted with rugged stone columns from which water jets upward and trickles down the columns. Her innate abilities combined with her dedicated pokemon's skills make her a formidable foe, exquisitly balanced between attack, defense, and type coverage. Trainers caught without an answer to members of her lineup will find themselves hard-pressed to defeat her. Despite her ability to speak telepathically, she is herself a kind, social, and good-spirited person who only gets serious when challenged. Make no mistake, she will not hesitate to defeat any challengers foolish enough to take her lightly.
