Sandy runs around and creates a makeshift Sand-Attack, preventing Zubat from attacking, but Sandy's attack misses as well. -sandragon13

Bite crunches down and finishes off Zubat, KOing it! Sandy gets a level up! You continue down the canyon and note an odd musical tone sounding down a side canyon. Investigate it, or continue down the main canyon? -sandragon13

You venture down the path that the sound seems to be coming from...
The canyon twists and winds, and you climb over small rocks and boulders that dot the ground. The sandstorm seems to be dying away, the further you walk down the path, the only sounds your own footfalls on the sandy stone and the wind. Suddenly, you hear the odd sound echo gently from up ahead, almost otherworldly in its tone. You look up and notice that the sun has begun to sink below the horizon of the hills beyond the route, staining the sky, the sand, and the pale rocks a deep red. Wandering through the sandstorm, you must not have noticed the sun's movement in the sky until now.
The ethereal, flutelike tone drifts past you once again, louder than before. Rounding a final bend, the narrow passage you are in widens drastically, into a massive, open area ringed by high, arching peaks of stone. The sky, stone, and sand are all illuminated a beautiful crimson by the dying rays of the sun. A hovering series of notes sounds in front of you, grabbing your attention back from the scenery. With a whispering, gently rushing sound, a small cloud of sand and dust begins to form in the center of the arena-like valley. Perhaps you could use this chance to get closer...do you want to take that risk? -sandragon13

You move forward, slowly, carefully, your eyes darting back and forth in an attempt to anticipate any hint of an ambush. Sensing none, you cautiously advance toward the small, spinning cloud of sand. Without warning, however, the amorphous twister flickers and drastically enlarges, towering high into the air and dominating your field of view. You step back and shield your eyes, hardly able to see in the whirling storm. Suddenly, the eerie series of flutelike notes sounds forth, eminating directly from the storm! As you stand cowering, enveloped in the vortex, you realize with a start that you remain unharmed, unimpeded in any way by the rushing sand and dust that surrounds you! You slowly open your eyes and stand in complete awe of what you see.
A massive spectral dragon hovers before you, semitransparent yet radiating a sense of power, of life. You remember reading once about a Pokemon that looked like this one...but, that species was green, with red wings. The spirit-like being hovering in front of you is a series of beautiful reds and tans, its head adorned with a pair of tapering crests of a crimson hue. The eyes of the being were of a captivating blood-red color, unblinking yet calming as it gazed down at you.
What will you do? -sandragon13

You approach slightly closer as the storm whips around you. All that remains between you and the spirit is a few feet. Still, the being hovers silently before you, its eyes focused, staring into yours. Perhaps it would be best to show the spectral being some respect? -sandragon13

As you and your pokemon team stand nobly before the spirit, it acknowledges you. You suddenly feel compelled by the being's power, and you drop to one knee, lowering your gaze towards the ground. Your pokemon follow suit, lowering their heads in respect to the mighty being. Finally realizing your respect, and to your great suprise, the shimmering form begins to speak. "Traveler, I recognize your sentiments. I am the great Spirit that enhabits this land, the ruling diety that watches over those who enter my domain. I appear before you now as a benevalent force, and I have noticed your respect for my subjects. Your partners who stand beside you, they can sense your potential, what you are capable of accomplishing as a trainer and as a human in this trying land. But be aware, not all will come to pass so easily. Survival is limited to those who can outwit and outpredict the Desert, and you must employ all of your skill to pass this trial." You blink for a moment, hardly believing what you have heard. Could this really be happening? Slowly, the figure extends a forelimb in the direction of your Trapinch, Sandy, who stands with her head bowed in reverence to the spirit. "You carry one of my daughters in your fold. She understands better than most the connection this place has between the physical and spiritual worlds, and she will fight to any end to protect it and her trainer. You must realize this now, for she cannot speak it to you directly. I will instill some of my power to her, as a symbol of my trust in you." With that, the spirit raised its head, craning its neck to its full length, and began to glow faintly green, an ethereal mist ebbing from nowhere. This mist swirled, unimpeded by the rushing sandstorm surrounding you, and gathered into the rusty-red Trapinch. "I must continue on," stated the draconic spirit, "there is much I must observe. There is only one other thing I can offer to you, young trainer; a prophesy of the future. A challenge awaits you upon the next ridge, so be prepared." As this is said, the form of the spirit grows faint, wavering as if torn by the winds that spiral on all sides. The rushing sand ebbs, the whistling wind sounding in your ears. The last remnants of the being's image fade from view, with a final word: "Farewell..." The sandstorm which rages all around you fades to nothing in mere seconds, leaving you and your pokemon alone, the only sound the fading notes of a flutelike tone, the wingbeats of the guardian spirit. The gentle breeze seems to be blowing from behind you, as if urging you toward the far side of the red-sand arena. As you travel forward, a pass in the rock becomes visible, granting you escape into the canyon maze. You now stand about twenty feet up on a path-like ledge, above the raging sandstorm in the valleys below. You might be able to follow this all the way to the end of the route...or do you want to climb down into the sandstorm? -sandragon13

I go down into the sandstorm with sandy and bigmouth in font of me. After all I think, that spirit did say the challange was OVER the next ridge.
